The Army Public Affairs Association (APAA) is proud to announce the creation of the Donald Nathan Carr Memorial Scholarship for Public Affairs Excellence. Named to honor of one of the Army’s longest serving and most recognized public affairs professionals who passed away in 2019, this scholarship will be awarded as several scholarships to up to five applicants annually.

The Army Public Affairs Association is proud to announce Jack E. Gordon has been named the 2022 recipient of the Joe Galloway Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his service to Army Public Affairs, both as a Soldier and a Department of the Army Civilian. Mr. Gordon passed away Feb. 7, 2022, at his home overlooking the waters of the Ohio River, a place he truly loved.

“This is a first time posthumous award for us and we are very happy to be able to honor this lifelong Army Public Affairs professional,” said John Harlow, president of the Army Public Affairs Association. “Jack Gordon was a dedicated, quiet professional who served selflessly for decades, leaving a legacy of contribution to the professional that will endure for generations.”

The Joe Galloway award is an annual award intended to recognize a lifetime of sustained support to the U.S. Army and to the Army public affairs community, through extraordinary contributions to the mission and profession of public affairs.

In a first for the Army Public Affairs Association, two recipients have been awarded the Joe Galloway Lifetime Achievement Award for 2021. The association is delighted to recognize Ms. Tansill R Johnson and retired Lt. Col. Ryan Yantis, each for their exceptional accomplishments and contributions to the Army Public Affairs community.
The Joe Galloway Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a lifetime of sustained support to the U.S. Army and to the Army public affairs community, through extraordinary contributions to the mission and profession of public affairs.
“These two exceptional public affairs leaders and innovators join the elite among us as Joe Galloway Lifetime Award recipients,” said John Harlow, president of the Army Public Affairs Association, which hosts/sponsors the award. “They always put Soldiers and their Families first, as Joe Galloway did.
