Honorable Order of Saint Gabriel


Submit Nomination

Nominations should be submitted at least 30 days prior to the presentation date if CONUS based, 45 days ahead if OCONUS. The Honorable Order of Saint Gabriel includes the medallion, ribbon and box.

 



The Honorable Order of Saint Gabriel is bestowed upon eligible individuals who have served the U.S. Army Public Affairs community with honor and selflessness.

 

INDUCTION REQUIREMENTS



All Public Affairs professionals whose actions and service contributed to the success of Army Public Affairs are eligible for induction – this includes all current/former qualified PA (per AR 360-1) and VI (per AR 25-1) Soldiers and Army Civilians serving the Active Component, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. All inductees must have:

1. Contributed positively to Army Public Affairs 
Nominees must have demonstrated exemplary service that has positively impacted the Army Public Affairs community.
 
2. Endorsement / Approval
For currently serving public affairs personnel in any Army component, the approving authority will be: For nominees above the Division level, the Army Command (ACOM) / Army Service Component Command (ASCC) / Direct Report Unit (DRU) / Corps PAO or most senior PAO, military or civilian, in the local chain of command (usually an O-6/GS-15). Approval authority is delegated to the Division Chief of Public Affairs (usually an O-5) for Active and Army Reserve nominees. Approval for Army National Guard nominees will be the first O-5/GS-14 in the nominee's PA leadership chain or the State Guard PAO, military or civilian. For veterans or retirees, approval is required from the Board of Directors of the Army Public Affairs Association.
 
3. Army Public Affairs Association membership
Since APAA membership is required to receive the award and to nominate an inductee, both nominator and nominee will require a nominal $35 one-year membership at the time of submission if not a member yet. Nominators wanting to nominate a candidate without their awareness until approved may join their nominee using their own email address for receipt of the submission receipt confirmation notice. Membership sign up for nominators and/or nominees, if needed, should be completed separately from award submission on the website under Join/Renew. There is also a $35 donation/fee to the association for each nomination, payable online as part of the nomination submission process itself.

THE MEDALLION

The Honorable Order of Saint Gabriel medallion, in brushed silver, bears the image of Gabriel calling out the good news with his familiar trumpet on the obverse of the medallion.

On the reverse is the Army Public Affairs emblem with its sword, pen and lightning bolt signifying the diverse roles of the Army Public Affairs communicator.
